This article demonstrates the use of IRI DarkShield to identify and remediate (mask) personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data in MongoDB, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch databases.
Note: This article covers the third available IRI customer method for statically masking or encrypting PII in structured MongoDB collections through the IRI FieldShield product or IRI Voracity platform (both powered by IRI CoSort v10 and its support of the native MongoDB driver).
Detecting additions and updates to database tables for data replication, ETL, PII masking, and other incremental data movement and manipulation activities can be automated in IRI Voracity workflows designed and run in IRI Workbench (WB).
Editors Note: This example demonstrates our earliest, least direct (though still available) method of using IRI FieldShield to protect data found within MongoDB tables. As you will read, the MongoDB Export Utility in this case extracts data and create a CSV file that FieldShield masks externally, prior to loading the newly secured data back into MongoDB.
