New Splunk Add-On Streamlines Data Preparation, Indexing, and Visualization

IRI Voracity Interface Expands Data Sources, Protection, and Testing for Splunk Data Analysts

Melbourne, Fla. (June 16, 2016) – Innovative Routines International (IRI), The CoSort Company, has created an “add-on” for Splunk that prepares data in Voracity and directly indexes the results in Splunk. Pre-processing and indexing data in one operation creates new performance and ergonomic value for users who need clean, compliant, and reliable analytic data culled from multiple, disparate data sources.

“Splunk is a great indexing and visualization platform, but cannot process many forms of data or de-identify it with certain methods important to CISOs,” noted IRI developer Dan Klajn. “By feeding Voracity results directly into Splunk indexes, users get data that’s been pre-filtered, transformed, protected, and reformatted without multiple tools, or even Hadoop,” he added.

The add-on allows Splunk users with Voracity to 1) connect to, profile, and classify data in structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources; 2) manipulate the data with transformation, cleansing, and masking functions; and then, 3) move the results through memory into Splunk indexes. Voracity can also produce and pump test data in Splunk.

According to Klajn, centralized data preparation in Voracity not only improves time to visualization, but also “avoids the metadata complexity, redundancy, and synchronization problems of integrating data in the analytic layer. And it allows you to deal with changes to source data in one place, and to use the processed data in multiple Splunk applications.”

The Voracity add-on for Splunk, which is in the process of being certified in Splunkbase, is now available through IRI. Technical details on the add-on are in this blog article.

About IRI, The CoSort Company
Founded in 1978, IRI develops fast, Eclipse-supported software tools for managing and protecting big data in: legacy migration, DW/BI, and application development environments. IRI’s major products include: CoSort for sorting, transformation, and reporting; FACT (Fast Extract) for VLDB unloads and reorgs; NextForm for data and DB conversion; FieldShield for static and dynamic data masking; and, RowGen for creating realistic test data from metadata.

About Splunk
Founded in 2003, Splunk software searches, monitors, and analyzes data via a web-style interface. Splunk software captures, indexes and correlates real-time data in a searchable repository from which it can generate graphs, reports, alerts, dashboards and visualizations.
